That is a great point! It is set up to draw in setbacks a lot - with "partial yes" and a "no" both then needing setbacks or a cost. It creates pressure and keeps it up - but the freedom to decide on what the setback is really fun. That pressure does help with a dark vibe, fitting the core setting.
When traveling or delving, a setback will often call for a roll on the Usage Dice for Rations or Torches (in those ways it lessens bookkeeping). The Pools system seems to compliment it well. You can create an (Event/Usage/Strain/whatever) Dice Pool and then roll it when the next related setback / cost is needed - it creates a nice sense of tension when you know the subject of the Pool (Event/Item breaking/Encounter/etc) is going to "happen" when the Pool runs out.
Usually Ghouls are enemy, not the heroes.
Indeed! Edrik, forging a path for ghouls to come.
This was super cool, I really like the mechanics so far! Thanks for sharing, excited to follow along.
Thank you very much! Edrik has some wild times ahead.
Super Cool! I love the vibe of this and I've checked out quite a few of Fari's stuff! Always super evocative!
Thank you! They have quite the catalog that I’ll be mining after this one.
This was a fantastic read, I can't wait to read the next session!
Thank you! I’m having a lot of fun with the game.
Fun session, and cool backstory!
Regarding the system, I'm wondering if the "No" oracle result always resulting in an additional twist or setback can get exhausting.
Thank you!

I'm 5 sessions in and going strong.
That's great to know! I like the Dice Pool creation system.
Awesome! Very fun to see how we each approach this! Your writing is so good!
I was thinking the same about yours! The system and lore is really allows for interpretation.
